Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned an Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. She was named the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest in the TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. She was a member of an advisory panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including weapons control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
